Call for RI Graduates: 2014 Bioscience and IT Industry Fellowship

Tech Collective Fellowship program to match recent college graduates with workforce opportunities and weekly stipend; provide employers with pre-screened entry-level talent.

Tech Collective, Rhode Island’s IT and Bioscience industry association, is currently accepting resumes for its 2014 Fellowship program. Tech Collective will match qualified Rhode Island college and university graduates with open entry-level positions for the 10-12 week Fellowship program. The program is funded by a Governor’s Workforce Board of Rhode Island (GWB) Jobs Initiatives Grant.

2014 Fellowship Program
Tech Collective’s Fellowship program aims to build the workforce pipeline and fill talent gaps on two levels by: (1.) providing 2014 college graduates with hands-on industry experience and employment opportunities within Rhode Island; and (2.) providing industry employers with qualified candidates to potentially fill their open positions.

Fellowship positions will run from June through August for 10-12 weeks and from 35-40 hours per week.  Each Fellow will be paid a weekly stipend funded 50% by GWB and 50% by the host company. It is anticipated graduates will be hired by their host company upon successful completion of their Fellowship.

Recent Bioscience and IT Graduates
The Fellowship program is open to recent Rhode Island graduates of bioscience or IT/CIS studies. Fellowship candidates must have graduated within the last six months from a Rhode Island college or university and must have earned a 2 or 4 year degree in a bioscience or IT/CIS related course of study. Graduates of industry-recognized bioscience or IT certificate programs will also be considered. Once selected, Fellows will participate in a work-readiness orientation before the start of the program as well as periodic group meetings throughout the program.

Currently posted Fellowship positions include: engineering, development, applications, software, network technician, and laboratory technician. Graduates should visit the Tech Collective Job Postings webpage and enter keyword “Fellowship” to view available positions and to submit cover letters and resumes for consideration.

IT and Bioscience Employers
Rhode Island IT and bioscience employers are requested to submit open entry-level job positions to Tech Collective. Tech Collective will work with Rhode Island colleges and universities to accept and review cover letters and resumes for consideration. Qualified candidates will be forwarded to participating companies, who would conduct formal interviews and selection of Fellows.

Graduates bring fresh ideas and talent to the company table, and we look forward to introducing them to Rhode Island bioscience and IT workforce.”

The Fellowship Program is now entering its third year and has successfully placed 14 participants with nine local companies.
