URI hackathon to tackle health, wellness challenges

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – HealthHacks RI 2016, a “hackathon” to create solutions for health and wellness challenges, will be held Oct. 14-16 at the University of Rhode Island.

URI is holding the event in partnership with Social Enterprise Greenhouse, a business accelerator, and MedMates, the state’s health care technology network group, according to Nick Constant, the lead student organizer and a graduate electrical engineering student.

Constant, in a recent telephone interview, said the hackathon, which is in its second year, was expanded to include health and wellness to make it a more inclusive event, and interest students from other programs and majors.
