|Tech Collective Youth Speakers Bureau Initiative|
Tech Collective is looking to recruit 5-10 industry professionals from the IT and Bioscience fields to spend approximately 45 minutes as needed discussing career awareness and opportunities with students in their classrooms from November through April.
Last year, Tech Collective connected Rhode Island youth with 22 industry speakers - thanks to you!
We believe that work-based learning is a continuum of activities, both in and outside the classroom which provide opportunities for students to connect what they are leaning in the classroom to the world of work. The time and experiences you contribute enable students to learn about careers, identify interests, and understand the education, training and skills required to be successful in them. Teachers report that students who have these opportunities become more energized and eager to do well in the classroom.
Tech Collective has an ongoing relationship with our high school Bioscience Academies and Academies of IT and Cisco Networking in the following schools:
- Burrillville High School
- Cooley High School (Providence)
- Coventry High School
- Cranston Area Career and Technical Center
- Exeter/West Greenwich High School
- Mt. Hope High School (Bristol/Warren)
- Warwick Area Career and Technical Center
- Warwick Veterans Memorial High School
- Woonsocket High School
- Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center
Please note the Bureau is recruited and managed by Tech Collective. Upon your registration with the Bureau, you will be able to provide your availablity, speaking topics of interest, and other preferences. We will contact you when a speaking opportunity becomes available. This is a strictly volunteer initiative and there is no obligation, however we advise that you may be called 1-2 times within the school year.
